“How long,
then?” I asked. “How much time do we have?”
“A few
days, no more – and of course, some few breaths, when the moment comes. But do you know
the strength of Kasora,” he asked, “now that its Arks are closed?”
I nodded.
“Its towers are not ordinary towers, but are like those once held by the
floating citadels of Redmarak, destroyed by the Augers during the fall of the
world. They unleash vast energies.”
“Three
million perished to bring those cities down.”
I shook my
head. “But we do not have even one tenth of that. How, then? How will we
possibly do this?”
He smiled
wryly. “Well,” he said, “much depends upon our not being seen.”
